Biography:Merrill Warkentin, Ph.D., is a professor of MIS and the Drew Allen Endowed Fellow in the College of Business at Mississippi State University. His research is primarily on the impacts of organizational, contextual, situational, and dispositional influences on individual computer user behaviors in the context of information security and privacy, has appeared in MIS Quarterly, Decision Sciences, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, European Journal of Information Systems, Decision Support Systems, Information & Management, Computers & Security, Information Systems Journal, Communications of the ACM, Communications of the AIS, Journal of Information Systems and many others. He is the author and/or editor of seven books on technology including Warkentin and Vaughn– Enterprise Information Systems Assurance and System Security: Managerial and Technical Issues – Idea Group Publishers (2006). He has authored or co-authored over 250 published manuscripts, including over 60 peer-reviewed journal articles. His work has been cited 10,000 times (according to Google Scholar) and his h-index factor is 27. He serves or has recently served as associate editor of MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Decision Sciences, European Journal of Information Systems, Information & Management, and other journals. He has served as a guest editor of several issues of top journals. He is senior editor of the AIS Transactions on Replication Research and an eminent area editor (MIS) for Decision Sciences. Dr. Warkentin has served as AIS Departmental editor for IS Security & Privacy, the chair of the IFIP Working Group on Information Systems Security Research (WG8.11/11.13), the vice president for Publications of the Decision Sciences Institute (DSI), and a national Distinguished Lecturer for the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM). His work has been funded by NATO, NSF, National Security Agency, DoD, Homeland Security, IBM, U.N. and others. He has chaired several national and international conferences, has been track chair at ICIS, AMCIS, ECIS and DSI, and will be the Program co-chair of the AIS Americas Conference on Information Systems (AMCIS) in 2016. Dr. Warkentin has served as a visiting professor or invited speaker at numerous universities in North America, Europe and Asia.
