Following five successful meetings, (Chapel Hill '89, San Diego '90, Boston '92, Washington DC '94, and San Francisco '96) the sixth meeting will be held at the Sheraton Imperial Hotel Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, in conjunction with the Visualization '98 Conference. This year, the focus and the main theme of the symposium is Volume Graphics, which is the subfield of volume visualization that deals with modeling, manipulating, and rendering of 3D scenes that are represented by volumetric data. The emphasis in Volume Graphics is on the ability to use volume data to achieve or even surpass many of the abilities traditionally supported by surface-based approaches. Recent trends in the industry and the academia predict that volume graphics is poised to leap forward in the near future. It is the goal of this symposium to reflect and promote this trend.
Submitted papers containing original work on volume visualization in general and volume graphics in particular, are solicited. The symposium is planning to provide support for student authors who present their accepted papers at the symposium.
Suggested topics include, but are not limited to:
Fax or email paper submissions are NOT acceptable.
